My Current Playlist

Today I wanted to share something different with you, something that is a big part of my life: Music.
I know that I've been singing from the time I could talk and back then, when I was little, Sarah Connor was my absolute favourite singer.
Later on I was singing in a choir for ages and now I do miss it quite a lot at times.
Since times have changed and I no longer listen to Sarah Connor, I wanted to share my current playlist with you and I hope you will enjoy this blog post.

I have quite a few playlists on my Youtube account, but there is a particular one I turn on every day. And I also have to say that I don't listen to all the songs daily, but I want to share the songs that are my favourites at the moment.

Let's start with my current favourite singer - Florence Welch. I think I started listening to her when I was 14 or maybe even younger, I know all the songs by heart and wish I had that dreamy voice too.
From her last album, The Odyssey, I especially like these two songs ( plus the fact that there is a Scottish guy talking obv.) Florence fascinates me every single time I hear her songs- she is truly a queen.

Next I thought I'd share my rock/metal kind of side with you. Nobody really expects that I do like that kind of music, so when I tell somebody, they are usually quite surprised.
The first song of this category will be Metro by System of a Down. Although I find most of their songs might be quite disturbing, this one really calms me down.

And another band of the rockier kind I really like is Bring me the Horizon. Now, I used to listen to their songs so often, but the song that really got me recently is this beautiful orchestra version of Doomed. It is such a beautiful piece, and keeping in mind that I used to sing in a choir, makes me love this song even more.

There is also a song by the band Livide that I found by accident and I can't really tell what genre it is. The video is seriously disturbing, which is why I advise you not to watch, just to listen. But the song is really great in my opinion.

Now, to continue with some "happy" music I chose some Polish artists that are simply amazing.
For example, Mela Koteluk, which reminds me of Florence because of her original and creative, poetic lyrics and the special voice. I only listen to about three or four of her songs, but this one is currently my favourite.

A band I discovered some months ago is The Dumplings, which at first sounded very absurd to me, but it turned out to be such a good band. I instantly fell in love with their style, the poetic lyrics once again, and the funky music that is nothing I've ever heard before.

Another Polish song is a blend/remix of a few rappers and I absolutely love it!
Out of those four rappers I really like listening to Grubson and Malpa, and this remix is just so catchy and I could listen to it on repeat to be honest. When it comes to rap, I like quite a few Polish songs, however I am not into English, German or any other rap.

And to finish off I have three more songs that are more "party-suitable".
Starting off with the Netsky and Macklemore song, I have to say that I first heard it at work and I think the bass and tune are very calming and it just feels like such a good summer song.

The next song is actually from a Polish artist,Gromee, which I didn't know at first, but once I found it out, I could really tell because these kind of songs are really popular there, and for some reason I really like them. I always imagine myself sitting in the car, on the way to Poland, going away on holidays, when I hear this song. It makes me happy, that's sure.

This song is also a recent discovery of mine, and it also makes me think of Poland, of holidays and sunny, happy days. It is by the band Hurts, which I usually never listen to, but this song is also so catchy and I think it's quite cool.

Let me know what your facourite songs/ music genres are! :)

Tea Time And Sunshine

After my exam this morning I hurried back home to enjoy a hot cup of tea and some delicious Golden Syrup cake that we bought yesterday in Bobby's Foodstore. This place is a dream for all the people that miss the UK.
Today even the sun came out, so now I'm sitting on my sofa, all cosy and warm, enjoying some warm sunrays and of course, my favourite Earl Grey tea and a few slices of the golden syrup cake, that I used to buy nearly every day back in Edinburgh.

Later on I have to go back to uni one more time and then I'll be studying in the evening for tomorrow's exam.

my current favourite jumper is this grey, oversized one from H&M - I pretty much live in it and I am not even lying.
my jeans are from Bershka

Hope you're all having a nice day too! :)

A Walk Around Vienna

Hello everyone!
I am back with a new blog post after three weeks of not uploading anything. This is crazy and I feel so bad about it but work, uni and my 2 exam weeks really robbed all my free time this month. I am quite sad because since my vlogging camera broke, I thought I would blog more, but so far it didn't go as planned.

So far I had five exams and there are three more to go until the end of this semester. Today I had a day without any exams, so I really need to study, but we also decided to go and explore Vienna a little bit for a few hours, so that I can also just take a break from studying like crazy.

Recently I found out that there is a shop in Vienna that sells British food and I was like : OMG, I SO have to go there! And I thought today was a good day to drag Eryk to that shop. It is actually quite far from where I live and it was freezing so we nearly had a mental breakdown before arriving at the shop, but in the end we made it and we were really happy.
That shop  had so many things that I already forgot that they existed and I really enjoyed being in that shop because for a short moment you have the feeling of being in a British shop and I really missed it already.
After stocking up on some little things we went to an Asian restaurant and now we are back home all full and frozen, so I will be concentrating on studying now.

Here are some photos of our trip to town today :)

I am so excited that the shops sell tulips again ! This is my third bouquet this year already!

Hope you all had a good January so far :)
I can't wait for February to start because I will finally have a month off uni, we will be skiing for a week and I will have enough time to blog more often!

Best Of 2016 : Beauty ( Garnier, Ziaja, Rimmel, Manhattan, Golden Rose)

Happy New Year from Me and Maya!

I hope you all had a great start into the new year! I was just relaxing, studying and working two days so far, so I guess my start wasn't too bad. However, on New Year's Eve my camera broke, which doesn't make me happy because I can't vlog at all, but therefore I decided to try and blog more instead.

Since today is a holiday, I have enough time to blog and study, and I decided it would be nice to have a look at a few things that I absolutely loved using throughout the last year.

Starting off with skincare, I discovered two amazing products, that are also very affordable, so totally worth trying out.
I was looking for a micellar water that would work just as good as the famous Bioderma one ( which I love), and everybody here will know the best (?) dupe for it- the Garnier micellar water that comes in the bottle with a pink cap. Yes, I also tried it and I like that it removes make-up quick and easy but the smell that it leaves on my skin is just so gross that I absolutely can't use it. There is also a Garnier micellar water with a blue cap, which also had the same effect on me, and a green one, which I haven't tried yet because I was sure it would do the same. However, when this All-in-1 micellar water came out, I first had to smell it and realised it actually had a very pretty scent, so I knew this wouldn't stink for sure. And i have to say that I already had two or three of them and I just feel like it is by far the best one I've tried so far. ( I also remember buying one from Simple, which was amazing, but it's not available here in Vienna.) This micellar water smells good, and thanks to it's oils the make-up just melts off quickly and you're all done. However, the oily part is also a thing that I don't like too much about this micellar water because the oil stays on your skin after you've taken off your make-up, so I always have to wipe the excess off- but this is still better than the smell of mould on your face, right?

Another skincare product I discovered in 2016 is the Ziaja Manuka Tree purifying deeply cleansing peeling paste ( I know the name could be a bit shorter, but somehow I like it because it already gives away all the information about the product). This peeling paste is created for oily and combination skin and it's nothing I've ever seen before. It is kind of a mix of a face mask and a scrub, it looks kind of like a tooth paste and it feels like sanding paper. But OMG it's so good! It really gets rid of all dead skin cells, blackheads and any other skin imperfections within seconds. It is a pretty harsh product so if you have very sensitive skin, be careful. Still, it is perfect for me and I will definitely repurchase it once I've used up this one.

Next up: nail polish. I like having nail polish on but the bad thing is that when I paint my nails in the morning, they will be already chipped or faded at the edges in the evening. I also used top coats and everything, but nothing seems to help. So, when the first "gel nail polish" by Sally Hansen came out I was so desperate to try it out but I never saw any reviews and also didn't want to spend over 20 Euros on it. And after some time I found this nail polish duo from Manhattan and I instantly fell in love. You can choose from a few different nail polish colours ( though I have to say that I don't think the colour range is too versatile) and you also pick the black bottle, which is the "gel top coat". You put on two coats of the colour ( mine is 175- time for taupe) and one coat of the top coat and your nail polish will literally stay on for a week. And I am seriously impressed because no other nail polish stayed on for longer than two days on my nails before. Also, they are really affordable and I will definitely have to stock up on some new colours soon.

I don't think I have to say too much about my favourite mascara ever, because I already mentioned it in like every single post I wrote, but yes, the Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycraflex mascara is my favourite drugstore mascara, it makes my lashes really long, they are not clumpy, the mascara keeps them up all day long and I just love it. I've also been using it for about three years now, so it really is a favourite product of mine. ( And again, so cheap!)

The three last products that I absolutely loved last year are the Golden Rose Velvet Matte lipsticks and the Waterproof lipliner that matches one of the lipsticks too.

The top/ left swatch is number 14, and the lipliner I have is number 53 and it goes perfectly with this lipstick. This colour is a dark dusty pink shade, that also looks pretty much like my walls in my bedroom. I absolutely love this colour and I think it matches my complexion very well. It is delicate, yet bold at the same time. It can be worn at any occasion, from day-to-day, to celebrations. I am sure it would fit so many different skin types!
The bottom/ right swatch is number 16, which is more of a browny shade. I would say it's still kind of nude-ish with some terracotta and brown in it. And this is again another colour I just absolutely love wearing. It looks a bit more natural than the previous one, and I never liked this kind of colour but this year I totally fell in love with it. I think it looks great on girls with dark eyes and hair but I can also imagine it on very pale girls- so again, the perfect shade for nearly everyone, and any occasion.

The lipliner is very creamy and it glides on like butter. It is retractable and even has a tiny sharpener at the other end, but I never used it before.

The Golden Rose Velvet Matte lipsticks come in soo many colours, and I absolutely love them because they are really pigmented and stay on throughout the whole day!

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any blog post suggestions. :)
