Quick Snack | Food

Image
I can't believe that I just wrote quite a lot and it all got lost... Let's quickly summarise the lost part: I came home from work totally exhausted and wet from the rain. I was running home and the fat raindrops were falling on my face, into my eyes and I didn't look too good. I also had to change my clothes straight away and to blow dry my hair. Then I wrapped myself up in a wake blanket and decided to rest a bit. But I was hungry and went downstairs to prepare some food for myself. Of course, I didn't want to cook for ages and then clean up afterwards. At first I thought of a strawberry milkshake but then I prepared myself some semolina again. I first heated up 300ml of milk in a small pot and added three tablespoons of semolina, stirring constantly. I also put a bit of sugar inside for more taste. Once the mixture got thicker, I poured it on a small plate, let it cool down for some minutes and then put some butter on top, that melted quickly. Then I added sugar

Cosy Friday Night In & Vlog

Image
Since I always work during the weekends, I never really have much time for myself. The only day I don't need to go anywhere really is Friday, but then again I have to be home early because I need to get up the next morning to go to work. So, I'd say that I can't relax fully all day long. For this reason I always try to go and get some fresh air on Fridays, to get out of the house for at least some hours and to enjoy this day. It is also vlog day so I try to be home early, because the editing, converting and uploading process takes about three hours of my day and I want to be in bed early to get enough sleep. I am sitting here in front of the computer, browsing the Internet while the vlog is uploading. Maya is running around in the room trying to climb the window sill and to find sweets. Eryk is not back home yet, so I have some peace. The candles are lit and I just try to relax. I also eat skittles and have a nice cup of tea. Once the vlog is ready I also have to

February Favourites | Beauty & Hair

Image
February is coming to an end, and this means that it is time to share my favourite's of this month with you very quickly. Let's start with my favourite lip balm- the Yves Rocher Noix de Coco. I've been repurchasing it for over a year now and I am in love with the creamy consistency, the smell of it and the time it stays on my lips. This one is actually nearly empty, but fortunately I got a new one for Christmas from my mum, so I have some supply for the next 6 months or so. Another product I've been loving lately is the Benefit Roller Lash mascara. This is obviously the sample I still got. I use it every day on my upper lashes and they are so long and separated! I love the look this mascara gives my eyelashes and was even considering buying the full sized one, but it costs £20 and if I think about it, the Urban Decay Perversion mascara costs less and is probably as good as the Benefit one. I actually won't buy the full sized one now, and maybe try to get

Ingrowing Toenails | Health

Image
It is quite a disgusting topic I guess, but since I am affected by ingrowing toenails, I thought I'd share my experience and what I'll be doing soon. Ingrowing toenails are painful, I went through times where there was pus and blood coming from underneath my nails and it was the worst thing ever. The toes are swollen, red and even touching them lightly is VERY painful ( don't even try to imagine the pain when you hit your toe...). I've had this problem for years now and I remember using iodine to keep the wounds from infections and I had plasters on my toes all the time. This didn't work out really and once the pain got worse and I started having problems with finding comfy shoes, my mum took me to a beautician in Poland last year to have a look at the toes and to say what could be done. The lady suggested that I get nail braces done, since they are effective and painless, but I was quite scared at first. I got my nails cut out on the sides next to the skin regu

Make-Up Of The Day | Beauty

Image
I always want to show how I did my make-up but then again I want to film a full tutorial. But, unfortunately I have no time for filming and editing such a video just now (also no good light and quite space to film etc). So, I thought I'd at least show some pictures of the make-up and the products I've used. If you really want a video like this, just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, don't forget to check out THIS video, because it is great! Sadly, I have to admit that my skin got quite terrible lately and it seems not to get better but worse. My forehead is full with spots, my eyelids, cheeks and nose too. You can also tell I have many dry patches and that the make-up just doesn't look flawless. I don't really know why it happened suddenly but I definitely want to make sure I go to a specialist and stop the development of more spots that will leave behind scars. For my lashes, I used the new Benefit Roller Lash mascara, which works pretty

Last Day Together In Glasgow + Vlog!

Image
The three of us managed to fall asleep in one bed and we had to get up quite early, since we had to leave the house at 10:30 am. It was my cousin's last day here in Scotland and it made us a bit sad, but we will actually see each other in April already again, so it wasn't a big tragedy. We took the bus to Edinburgh bus station, then another one to Glasgow bus station and then another one to Glasgow Airport, where we had some lunch together and brought my cousin to the security. Then we said goodbye and she left. Once we saw she went through the scanner, we left the airport and took the bus back to Glasgow bus station and then the other one to Edinburgh. When we arrived it was raining heavily and the wind was terrible too, so we got all wet and hurried to KFC. I had a cup of tea and some fries. Then we went to Sainsbury's for a short while and then took the bus back home. Unfortunately, my cousin's flight was again late two hours, which is really weird and I think no

Last Day And The Tide

Image
Today is our last proper day together, I mean with my cousin, since she's leaving tomorrow. She has her flight from Glasgow, so we'll go there with her in the morning and then come back again. We woke up and the weather was just so terrible that we even felt tired and like staying at home. But we knew that wasting this day was also not the best decision and despite the rain and heavy wind, we made our way to Portobello beach. Once we actually got there, cold and wet, we hurried to the café by the beach, called The Tide. It is also a tiny art gallery, where you can buy cute little pieces of art for your home. We didn't buy anything, but we had a hot chocolate and a latte, and a wedge of carrot cake each. I am lately obsessed with carrot cake and this one was also very tasty. My hot chocolate was also delicious, with a lot of cream and little marshmallows on top. We sat there for a while and realised that the rain has stopped and the sun was coming out again. So we paid a

Ciaté Paint Pots | New In

Image
Some days ago, a courier knocked on our door and handed me in a parcel without any sign of where it came from. I was very surprised when I opened it and found three full sized Ciaté nail polishes inside. I have no idea where they came from, but I am really happy. I decided to give the red one to my cousin, since it's her favourite colour and I already have nearly exact the same shade, from Bourjois. The three nail polishes are a light pink one with tiny shiny particles in it -which is called PP102 dolls house, a red one with a lot of glitter- called PP112 love letter, and the plain red one- PP016 mistress. The pots are so cute with the little bows in the front and the polish itself is great! I am currently wearing the lightest one and it is really nude with a delicate shimmer. I also swatched the two other ones to let you see them too. The red one is so pigmented that one coat of it covers the nail very well. I already have one nail polish from Ciaté, which is just a silve

Carrot Cake | Recipe

Image
Some days ago we had a meal deal for lunch from Boots and I picked a carrot cake slice as a snack. I liked it so much that this cake was on my mind all the time since that day and so we got all the ingredients yesterday and started baking the cake. I found the recipe on the BBC Food website, but I changed the recipe a bit any ways. Ingredients - zest and juice of 1 orange - 50g sultanas - 150ml sunflower oil -2 eggs -140g soft light brown sugar -85g wholemeal flour -85g plain flour -2 tsp ground cinnamon and 2 tsp ground mix spice -1 tsp bicarbonate of soda -140g grated carrots -50g chopped walnuts Steps 1) Stir the orange zest, juice and sultanas together and microwave for 2 minutes. 2) Heat oven to 180 degrees and grease and line the loaf tin. 3) Whisk together the eggs and oil in a small bowl. 4) Mix together the sugar, flours, mixed spice, cinnamon and soda in a big mixing bowl. 5) Add the sultanas with the juice and zest, grated

Dean Village And Camera Obscura

Image
Today we first headed to the beautiful historical part of Edinburgh, called Dean Village, which made me feel like I'm in the medieval times and it was great! I love exploring such places and I was really happy that I finally got to see it. Afterwards, since it was very windy and quite chilly, we took the bus and got off at the National Gallery of Scotland. We decided to quickly have a look at the new exhibition, but somehow it didn't impress us at all and we made our way to Camera Obscura- The world of illusions. It was great! We had a lot of fun there, learned new interesting things and were laughing a lot. Even though it was very busy, we liked it there ( plus the view from the roof was amazing!). Once we got out of there, we quickly had a nacho wrap at McDonald's before we did the shopping and headed back home. -Olivia ~19.02.2015~

Edinburgh City Centre

Image
Today the weather didn't look too good, but we still decided to head to the historical city centre. We planned on going to The Royal Mile, Victoria Street and Grassmarket. But we somehow took a different way and went through teeny tiny streets and took a lot of stairs (let's say this was our workout!). We saw way more than we thought we would and we are so satisfied from today's trip to town. After the city centre we took the bus to Ocean Terminal, had some lunch and a look at the shops and took the bus back home. We are totally exhausted but so happy that the weather was so great and that we saw so much! -Olivia ~18.02.2015~
